The Texas School of Business was founded in 1983 in North Houston. It was initially just a small, private secretarial school. In 1984, the school expanded its operations, while incorporating various business programs. Then in 1987, Texas School of Business included a Medical Assistant program to its curriculum. In 1988, the second campus of this school opened in the southwest region of Houston. During 1996, the school was purchased by a private corporation, T.S.B. Holding Co. Inc. Further, in 1999, a third campus of the school opened in Friendswood, Texas. In 2003, a fourth campus was inaugurated in East Houston at 12030 East Freeway. In 2004, the Texas School of Business was taken over by Kaplan Higher Education Corporation. In 2015, the Education Corporation of America acquired the school.

Admission process

When you contact the Texas School of Business, you will be referred to an admission representative, who will guide you through the enrollment procedure. He or she will speak to you about your educational and professional aspirations and will answer all your queries about the admission requirements and procedures. There are some specific guidelines that every candidate must fulfill, in order to enroll into the Texas School of Business. The applicant must accomplish one of the following requirements:

 

• Be a high school graduate
• Have a General Education Development (GED) certificate
• Have a Home Study certificate or a transcript of a Home Study program, which should be equal to the high school level and recognized by the applicant’s home town. Along with this, the school also requires evidences of high school graduation. For students who reside in the United States, but study in foreign universities shall be asked to appear for an entrance examination.

The Texas School of Business offers two main courses for Allied Health and Continuing Education. There are four programs under the Allied Health category and two programs under the Continuing Education category.

Dental Assistant Diploma

The Texas School of Business provides relevant education and practical training to all people who want to become dental assistants. With the Dental Assistant Diploma program, you will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for your dental assisting career. You will be able to perform various dental duties such as tray setups, instrument sterilization, equipment maintenance, four-handed dentistry, model trimming, charting, impressions, and dental reception duties. In addition to this, students will learn records management and ethics, office management and communications, and basic computer skills. Their flexible class schedules will let you maintain a balance between your work, family, and education.

 

Medical Assistant Diploma

Students who want to acquire the Medical Assistant Diploma will receive hands on training and comprehensive education in both clinical and administrative fields, so they can start their career in the medical sector and become skilled medical assistants. In this program, they will learn how to assist physicians in their routine physical examinations, aid in minor surgical procedures, administer injections, record medical histories, vital signs, and explain treatment procedures to different patients and their families. The Patient Care Technician Diploma is an extension of a nursing assistant’s role. It trains you to become a cross trained nursing assistant, also referred to as a Patient Care Technician (PCT). This program gives knowledge and practical training to students who were or are employed as Health care technicians, nursing aides, Patient care assistants, Phlebotomists, Allied health assistants, or Electrocardiograph aides.

 

Nurse Assistant Course
People who love to help others should go for the Nurse Assistant Course offered by the Texas School of Business. In this program, you will learn how to provide basic care to inhabitants enrolled in long-term health care facilities and help people achieve maximum functional freedom. Some of the topics of this course include infection control, resident rights, personal care procedures, basic body mechanics, emergency procedures, nutrition, observation and charting, and restorative services.

 

Spanish for Health Care Workers Course
The Texas School of Business offers the Spanish for Health Care Workers Course for people who face language barriers in their medical profession. With this certificate program, you will be able to understand Spanish speaking patients and in turn communicate effectively with them. This includes the use of common medical vocabulary, health remedies, and Spanish-English dictionaries and relevant resources.
