About Star Career Academy
Since its inception in 1935, Star Career Academy has been an excellent provider of programs in the domains of cosmetology, allied health, professional cooking, restaurant and hotel management, and pastry and baking arts. For all these programs, performance based, hands-on and occupational training is provided to groom the students for employment at entry level, which is in accordance with the community needs. The Academy is committed to the success of students by granting a compassionate educational environment along with high quality career training. The mission is to enrich the community they serve. History of the School
The foundation of Star Career Academy started in 1979 by the name of Star Technical Institute school group, which offered career training in design and drafting. In 1983, the academy diversified its training programs and dedicated itself in allied health training in order to cater to the needs of ever expanding industry of healthcare. In 2008, four branches of Star Academy merged with two career schools of New York. Through this merger, the Star Career Academy came under the umbrella possession of Quad Partners, which is an investment firm dedicated to schools and educational products. Star Career Academy has been in existence in Manhattan continuously since 1935 by the name of New York Institute of Dietetics. In the following years in 1970s, the ownership changed and the new name was given to it- New York Food and Hotel Management School, accredited by National Association of Trade and Technical Schools (NATTS). In 2007, after the establishment of Allied Health Division, the current name of the academy came into being.

 

The Star Career Academy also has an unaccredited branch, ServFast Computers, which is in operations since 1992. It is located in New Jersey (1049 Church Road in Toms River). This institute provides state-of-the-art training in computers and its faculty comprises of instructors with extensive relevant experience in the field of technology.

The most prominent accreditation of the Star Career Academy is that by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), which directs the academy to collect employment ++ and graduation data for their graduates. ACCSC allows exclusion of students from the rate of placement calculation:
• Students who want to pursue further education from an accredited institution
• Students who are unavailable for employment due to specified reasons

All the campuses of Star Career Academy are approved testing sites, accredited by National Healthcare Association (NHA) and provide testing facility by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

 

Admissions

The eligibility conditions for admission to the academy are:


• You must possess a GED, a high school diploma or equivalent.
• You must have crossed the compulsory education age and must not be simultaneously enrolled in any high school.
• You have to attend an interview and show an understanding of the program you are interested in.
• If there are any special requirements for the program, you need to meet them.

Allied Health
The career in medical health is an attractive one, considering the importance of quality education in the arena. Star Career Academy offers several diploma and certificate programs in allied health.
