About Southern Technical College
Southern Technical College offers a range of career training programs in the fields of Business, Allied Health, Education, Design, Nursing, Legal Studies, Information Technology, and Technical Trades at the level of diploma, associate’s, and bachelor’s. These courses are offered both on-campus and online. Students can choose any of these programs, with the flexibility of day or evening career training classes.
College Accreditation
Southern Technical College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), in order to provide diplomas, certificates, and associate degrees. ACICS is recognized as a national accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. Furthermore, it is approved by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and is acknowledged by the Commission for Independent Education, Florida Department of Education.

Getting into Southern Technical College is as easy as meeting their admissions representative at your nearby campus. He or she will in turn schedule your personal campus tour. The university has an open admissions policy, which enables high school graduates or equivalent education bearers (licensed by state departments of education) to take admission.

Financial Aid Options
Southern Technical College provides financial assistance to eligible students, in order to fund their college education. Among various financial aid programs, some are federal Pell grant, William D. Ford federal direct loan program, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), etc. The university also offers VA education benefits for active-duty military personnel, veterans, and reservists.
Healthcare Administration Bachelor Degree
This program teaches students the basics of healthcare management, along with topics like public policy, finance, communications, organizational behavior, etc. Students can choose their focus with either management or clinical emphasis.
Associate’s Degree in
Diagnostic Medical Sonography
This course covers the basics of sonography, in addition to the use of several sonography techniques, including ultrasound instrumentation, embryonic sonography, gynecologic sonography, and fetal sonography.
Health Information Management
This program includes coding and billing, electronic medical records, confidentiality, human resources, quality management, privacy, advanced virtual lab technology, specialized courses like ICD-10-CM coding, etc.
Medical Assistant
In this course, students are taught about medical theory and terminology, medical billing, clinical procedures, and anatomy and physiology. After completing this degree program, students can take some medical assistant certification examinations.
Medical Office Administrator
This program deals with computerized practice management, case management, medical office administrative procedures, electronic health records, cross-cultural client relations, etc.
Medical Laboratory Technician
In this course, students learn how to collect, examine and analyze urine, blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells of human body. They learn how to use different equipments and methodologies of microbiology, hematology, clinical chemistry, immunohematology, and immunoserology. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates can sit for the national certification examination.
Surgical Technician
This course teaches students how to be effective surgical technicians. It prepares students to pass the surgical technology certification examination, recognized by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Medical Billing and Coding Technology Diploma
In this course, students learn about several classification codes related to patient diagnosis and medical procedures. They also get to know how to record accurate codes on healthcare insurance forms.
Medical Assistant Diploma
This program encompasses both clinical and administrative aspects of the healthcare industry, including medical theory and terminology, medical billing, clinical procedures, anatomy and physiology, etc. Upon graduation, students can pass the medical assistant certification examinations.
Business Office Specialist Diploma
This course offers knowledge about business and management skills, and computer applications. Students also get to know about database management, human resource management, business operations, bookkeeping, and business law. After completing this program, students can take the Microsoft Office (MOS) Certification examination.
Accounting Associates Degree
This program covers topics like finance, modern accounting, computer information techniques, business management, etc.
Associate Degree in Management
This course provides knowledge about organizational behavior, international business, human resource management, leadership and team development, business communication, and finance.
Accounting Degree (BSA)
This program builds the fundamental knowledge of accounting, along with the dynamics of organizations, economy, and business environment.
Management Degree
This course includes topics such as human resource management, organizational behavior, international business, finance, leadership and team development, business communication, etc.
Interior Design Bachelor Degree
This program provides students with advanced skills and practical training in both commercial and residential design.
Associate Degree in Digital Design
In this course, students learn about various industry-standard software applications, including Adobe Creative Suite 5 software (Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and InDesign), and their usage to solve design problems.
Interior Design Training
This program provides students with hands-on training and advanced skills in both commercial and residential design.
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
In this course, students learn about early childhood development, how children learn, and the role of the teacher, family, school, and community.
Information Technology and Security Systems BA Degree
This program deals with network security, advanced project management, computer forensics and investigations, security systems, client-server network operating systems, routers, advanced network forensics, digital home technology integration, and network security. Moreover, it prepares students for various industry standard certification examinations, like Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, Computer Forensics Investigation, etc.
Associate’s Degree in Network Engineering and Administration
In this course, students learn the principles and terminology of network administration, along with topics such as cloud computing virtual servers, IT forensics, etc. After completing this program, students can sit for various industry-standard certification examinations, like Microsoft, Cisco, CompTia, and Computer Forensics Investigation.
Public Service Administration Bachelor Degree
This program teaches students about criminology and criminal justice, along with concentrations of criminal justice technologies, law enforcement and correctional administration, and social justice.
Criminal Justice Associate Degree
This course teaches students about the criminal administration corrections, terrorism, law enforcement, private security and investigation, etc. Upon graduation, students can be employed as evidence technicians, corrections officers, legal assistants, insurance investigators, security officers, etc.
Nursing Degree
In this course, students get specialized training in preoperative nursing and critical care. After completing this program, students can take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN), in order to become a registered nurse.
Associate’s Degree in Applied Electronics Technology – HVAC
In this course, students learn how to install and repair light commercial and residential air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems.
Electrical Trades Technology (ETT)
This program teaches students about technology systems, their functioning and maintenance. After completing this course, students can get several electrical jobs such as residential electrician, electrician helper, commercial electrician, service technician, electronics technician, telecommunications technician, etc.
Welding Technology Training
This program teaches students several welding processes, including Fillet, Metal Arc Shield Grove, and MIG/TIG components, in addition to advanced pipe welding techniques. They learn how to operate, supervise and assist several welding operations.
HVAC Diploma
In this course, students learn how to install and repair light commercial and residential air conditioning and heating systems. However, this program is only for those students who have an academic Associate degree or a higher degree, or a reference from a sponsoring agency.
