Veterinary Technician Associate of Applied Science Degree

Accreditation: American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA).

This comprehensive program trains students to work with veterinarians in a professional setting and contribute to the health and welfare of animals. Students learn important skills and procedures such as performing basic examinations, preparing and managing anesthesia, administering medications, and communicating with clients regarding their pet’s health.

 

Pharmacy Technician Diploma

The Pharmacy Technician program sets students up for success in the pharmacy workplace. Qualified instructors train students in all areas of the field. With an emphasis in customer service, the program provides students with the necessary skills to effectively work with both pharmacists and patients. Other skills include managing inventory, preparing medication for patients, receiving prescriptions and requests from patients, and calculating medication doses. Students also learn the medical and pharmaceutical terminology as well as the federal and state laws related to pharmacies.

 

Paralegal Associate of Applied Science Degree

This Associate Degree program is designed for students who have a passion for law and legal issues. Directly assisting attorneys, clients, and courts, a paralegal must have a thorough understanding of legal procedures, techniques, and services. As a student in the Paralegal program at Rockford Career College, you will develop essential knowledge and skills such as drafting legal documents, researching and assessing relevant information, and conducting initial client interviews.

 

Medical Billing and Coding Degree

Students are prepared to enter the medical field after completing Rockford’s Medical Billing and Coding program. Training from industry professionals includes patient account management, diagnosis and procedure coding, and medical billing and insurance processing. Students will also be well versed in medical terminology related to all aspects of the health care field.

 

Medical Assistant Degree

Accreditation: Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
As a student in the Medical Assistant program at Rockford Career College, you will train under the supervision of a physician or practitioner, allowing you to learn and develop important skills in a real life setting. Duties of a Medical Assistant include scheduling, assessment of vital signs, administration of medication, assistance with minor surgical procedures, and the completion of laboratory tests.

 

Massage Therapy Diploma

A diploma in Massage Therapy from Rockford Career College marks the start of a student’s road to success as a professional in the field. With a diploma, students are eligible to take the state licensing exam in order to become a licensed massage therapist. This program covers techniques, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology in a hands-on setting, as students participate in an externship during their last term.

The Information Technology degree program was created for students interested in a career in computer systems engineering, Internet technology and design, and network security. Rockford Career College accepts a variety of local and federal grants and loans students may need to finance their education. To determine a federal financial aid award amount, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at https://fafsa.ed.gov/.

 

Distance Learning
Rockford Career College offers a number of courses online, and students are encouraged to pursue them in accordance with the onsite courses. Time management and self-discipline are essential as classes do not occur at any specific place or time, but rather are presented to students as discussion forums and online quizzes. This allows for some flexibility, and is beneficial for students who may work full or part-time, have families and children to care for, or travel often. Access to a computer and reliable Internet connection is required.

Transferring Credits
Rockford Career College accepts credit from any accredited college recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. In order to transfer credit, students must submit an official transcript and may be required to take a proficiency examination. Additionally, the student must have passed the course with a 2.0 or “C” letter grade or higher. Due to academic residency requirements, a student may not transfer more than 50% of the total credits required for completion of the program.
