About Mildred Elley
Mildred Elley offers more than 20 career focused degree and certificate courses to students. Mildred Elley was founded in 1917 at Albany, New York, by Mrs. Augusta Mildred Elley. She started this school in her home with the purpose of teaching shorthand and typing. In 1919, the commercial establishment of Mildred Elley came into being. The institute is one of the sister schools of Austin’s School of Spa Technology and provides various career focused programs.

Mildred Elley is acredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), in order to provide certificates, diplomas, Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS), and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees. ACICS is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as a national accrediting agency. Furthermore, Mildred Elley is licensed by the New York state education departments.
Mildred Alley offers financial assistance to those who qualify. It offers a range of financial aid programs, including Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), federal PELL grants, federal Stafford and PLUS Loans (low interest loans), Federal Work-Study program (FWS), Tuition Assistance Programs (NYS TAP), veteran benefits for eligible students, Regents Awards for Children of Deceased Police Officers, Firefighters and Corrections Officers, Regents Child of Veteran Awards (CV), and Vietnam Veterans Tuition Award or Persian Gulf Veterans Tuition Award.

This program prepares students to get jobs in finance, sales, banking, customer service, non-profit organizations, for-profit agencies, and government jobs. Students receive training in advances business management and computer technologies. Students can choose to obtain any one of the following specializations in Business Management:

Business Management Degree (AOS)
In this course, students study about accounting principles, software applications, business management and organization, and human resource management. After completing this program, students can get employed in finance, sales, banking, customer services, non-profit, for-profit, and government jobs.
Accounting Systems Specialist Certificate
This course teaches students financial principles, managerial accounting principles, software applications, computerized accounting, etc. Students also get to know how to record and scrutinize financial transactions and information.
Business Technologies Specialist Certificate
In this program, students receive theoretical information processing knowledge and hands-on training on software applications, like Microsoft Office Suite. The several computer applications include spreadsheets, word processing, and databases. In addition, applicants learn about the necessary written and interpersonal communication skills of this field.
Office, Project & Event Management (AOS)
This course provides advanced training in computer applications of Microsoft Office Suite (like word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, databases, etc.), professional office management, the basic project management principles, and special management and event planning.
Administrative Assistant Certificate
In this program, students learn how to produce professional letters, handle confidential records, create brochures and newsletters, transcribe dictated reports, maintain and organize the office, etc.
Medical Assisting Degree
This Associate degree course includes clinical, technical, and administrative skills. It prepares students to get jobs as medical secretaries, medical assistants, laboratory assistants, medical records professionals, and phlebotomists.
Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate
This certificate program provides knowledge about human physiology and anatomy, patient communication skills, laboratory and clinical procedures, etc. Upon successful completion, graduates can get job positions in medical laboratories, clinics, private physician offices, hospitals, and pharmacies.
Medical Office Assistant Certificate
This course includes the study of insurance processing and medical office procedures and management. After completing this program, students can be employed as medical receptionists and secretaries, billing specialists, admitting clerks, medical records clerks, administrative medical assistants, etc.
This certificate program provides training in all cosmetology areas, including hair straightening, manicures, permanent waving, finger waving, shampooing, all iron curls and marcelling, skin care, wig instruction, facial grooming, scalp treatments, bleaching, dyes, hair cutting, sterilization and hygiene, physiology, anatomy, business practices, and applied sciences. Upon successful completion, students can sit for the cosmetology licensure exams.
This course provides the necessary education, skills, and practice required in massage therapy. After completing this program, students can take the New York State Massage Therapy Exam. This course is offered in two forms:

In this program, students learn how to conduct legal research, draft legal documents, maintain legal files, interact with clients, provide managerial support in the workplace, use important legal computer applications, etc. This course is offered in two options:

Practical Nursing (LPN)
This certificate program provides the crucial laboratory and clinical skills required to become an efficient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This course prepares students to earn the licensure of a practical nurse. Upon successful completion, graduates can also pass the NCLEX-PN exam.
This course teaches applicants how to fabricate a working computer in a practical job setting. Students also get a chance to go for internships. Applicants can choose any one Information Technology program, from the following:

Early Childhood Education
This certificate course teaches students how to to work with small children in childcare agencies and schools as teaching assistants, teacher aides, preschool teachers, early childcare center directors, and lead preschool teachers. After completing this program, students can sit for the Level 1 Teacher, Level 2 Lead Teacher, Infant -Toddler and/or Preschool certification, etc.
Hospital-Based Coding Certificate
This program teaches students the background of medical science and technical skills. It includes the fundamentals of physiology and anatomy, medical terminology, and coding. Students learn how to manage and organize patient records, sort patient records from medical data, allocate and classify numeric codes for each procedure and diagnosis, evaluate patient records, etc. Additionally, students are prepared for the national certification exam of Certified Coding Associate, offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Medical Transcription Certificate
This course includes topics like medical terminology, HIPAA, basics of anatomy, authentic dictation, and online transcription essentials. Students learn how to transcribe dictation into examination results, insurance documents, operative reports, follow rules of HIPPA and other legal laws, interpret medical terminology and abbreviations, etc. After completing this program, students can sit for the Registered Medical Transcriptionist examination, administered by the Association for Healthcare documentation Integrity (AHDI).
Non-Medical Transcription Certificate
This course is designed for applicants who want to become at-home transcriptionists in the fields of legal or law enforcement, insurance, business, and criminal justice. It includes proper use of equipment, directions in typing verbatim conversations, terminology instructions, formatting, punctuation, grammar, improper English with slangs, importance of confidentiality, etc.
Physician-Based Billing & Coding Certificate
This program teaches the fundamental medical language skills, physiology and anatomy, medical insurance billing, and medical coding for the physician-based practice. These skills can enable learners to work in a small workplace setting, group or private physician practice.
ICD-10 Boot Camp
This course provides comprehensive training in ICD-10-PSC and ICD-10-CM. It is for those people who have some experience in ICD-9 coding. It includes the practice of ICD-10 through practical exercises such as sorting of medical data, assignment of diagnostic procedures and codes in patient records, etc. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates can pass the National ICD-10 Certificate Exam. The course is offered in two online variations - live/online learning format and live/online or self-paced.
The Massage Therapy workshop trains therapists in various areas and techniques of massage therapy.
