History of College

The current Laurus College is a relatively young school, not yet ten years old. It was founded as LLC in 2006. This college was born from an amalgamation of colleges known as Atlas Computer Centers. This amalgamation began just before the start of the millennium.

 

Accreditation

The Atlas Computer Centers received accreditation from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocation Education in 2003, five years after its founding. Four years after the birth of today’s Laurus College, the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education accredited it. The college was formed in line with the State of California’s education and trade laws.

 

More importantly and with relevance to both prospective and current students, the College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, thus allowing it to offer students their Certificates and Occupational Associate Degrees. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is recognized as an accrediting agency by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Laurus College is also allowed to facilitate Federal Student Financial Aid on behalf of qualifying students.

Online Campus

Because many students do not have the advantage of experiencing full-time traditional campus life and studies, mainly due to financial constraints and consequently having to work directly after finishing high school, Laurus College has prioritized the need to provide such students with the opportunity to study by correspondence online at flexible schedules and course programs as well as at rates that students and/or their benefactors can afford. The college commitment to online teaching mirrors the ongoing growing trend for universities, colleges, and private schools, worldwide to provide students with an accredited and advanced level of education commensurate with institutionally-set standards and requirements.

 

The Laurus College online teaching methodologies also embrace modern technology. Young students will feel at home interacting with their peers through mediums such as web-based platforms that they are already familiar with. This is also to their advantage where practical demonstrations from lecturers are required. As registered students, they also have full-time access to the college’s video library and can revisit previous lectures, particularly during revision schedules close to term exams and course final exams.

The online campus is categorized into four divisions; business, information technology (IT), healthcare and graphic art. Further, students have two options regarding level of study.
