Hunter Business School is the perfect place to begin your business career. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools accredits it. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs also accredits its Medical Assistant Program and Ultrasound Program.

 

The classes are small, the program is career geared, and the skills are all innovative and appropriate for the professional workplace. Instructors all hold experience in the programs that they teach. There is also flexible scheduling such as night classes.

Career Services

Hunter has the highest employment placement in the Long Island area. The career center provides career assistance to its students and graduates in order for them to find their perfect job. The center services provided will help with resume writing, cover letter construction, practice interviews, and job Expo. At the Expo employers from the area send out representatives to meet the Hunter students. The assistance is a lifetime offering for Hunter Business graduates.

 

The school also has a Portfolio and Career Development orientation, which requires students to achieve certain milestones, as they get closer to graduation and entering the job force. The school also posts jobs openings and opportunities at the school website.

 

Enrollment Process and Financial Aid

Students interested in enrolling at Hunter Business School should call the number posted at the website or use the contact information form also posted at the website. Financial aid is available for eligible students. The school requires the students who wish to be given aid to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students enrolled at Hunter Business School on a least half-time basis, and providing they meet the need guidelines, may also able to get a Pell Grant.

 

Additionally, other grants and loans may be available to eligible students. Some of those plans are the federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, the Direct Loan program, and the Parent Loan to Undergraduate Students (PLUS Loan).

 

Hunter Business School also provides benefits to the military members. The Post 9-11 Bill, as well as other veteran benefits are available for use at Hunter Business School. The military members who are granted benefits from the Veterans Affairs should submit all appropriate paperwork and documentation to the campus Financial Aid office. Your student status, such as withdrawal or degree completion, will be reported to the VA.

 

Certification and Licenses Programs


Some fields at Hunter Business School upon completion will allow the students to take exams and certification evaluations. At Hunter Business School, there are six of these programs:
• Computer Technician Networking Specialist (CTNS) Program
• Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program
• Practical Nursing (PN) Program
• Medical Assistant (MA) Program
• Medical Office administration (MOA) Program
• Medical Billing Specialist (MC) Program

 

Accounting Program
This Accounting diploma day program takes around seven months to complete. Students will learn specialized software, accounting terminology, accounting concepts, and computerized accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Access, and Excel.

 

Job possibilities for completion of this program are numerous and include, but are not limited to, accounting clerk, bookkeeper, accounts payable clerk, accounting associate, and accountant assistant.

 

Medical Assistant Program
This program is offered at day and at night classes. The day program takes 7 ½ months to complete and the evening program runs at 15 months. The Medical Assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Possible employment might be in the fields of:

• Clinical Assistant
• Doctor’s assistant
• Medical Assistant
• Medical Office Assistant

 

Computer Technician Networking Specialist
This program is geared to prepares students desiring entry-level jobs in the fields of networking, computers, and electronics. The program can be completed in day or evening classes. Half of the program time is spent in a cutting-edge lab environment. The students will learn to use the tools of the trade such as voltmeters, audio generators, multimeters, and oscilloscopes. The students at Hunter will also work with circuit boards and schematics in order to prefect their skills. Upon program completion, the students will be ready to pass the CompTIA A+ certification exam.

 

Medical Billing Specialist Program
This three month evening program will prepare students to be ready to get entry level employment in medical related fields while working on billing, coding, insurance fees, and other medical bill related jobs. Students will study classes like accounting along side medical studies such as anatomy and medical terminology.

 

Medical Office Administration Program
This program helps students to gain the skills they will need to provide appropriate and timely administrative support. The program is offered in day and night classes and can take from six to twelve months to complete.

 

Practical Nursing Program
The 11-month program is only offered at the Levittown campus. Upon completion of the program, the students will be qualified to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). If you enjoy caring for people and are interested in the medical field, this may be the program for you, as you will study such subjects as the Foundations of Nursing, Adult Health Nursing, and other similar classes.

 

There are admissions requirements for this program:
• Must be at least 17 years old
• Must pass the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (reading, math, science and English language evaluation)
• Must have proof of citizenship, permanent residency, or be an eligible non-resident

 

Business Office Administration Program
The curriculum can be taken at night or day classes and will take from six months to twelve months for completion. Students in this program will learn the proper skills in order to work within a professional setting. Some of those skills are workflow, organization, client interaction, and office management. The completion of this program could result in employment as a clerk, office assistant, receptionist, secretary, or other similar roles in the business world.

 

PC Skills Program
This program will take almost five months to complete. It is offered at day classes. This course is designed for students to learn basic keyboard techniques, proficient and speedy typing, word processing, spreadsheet strategies, database skills, and presentation techniques.

 

Diagnostic medical Sonography Programs
This course of study is only offered at the Medford campus. To be in this program, you must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited US, foreign, or Central America school or have graduated from a two-year accredited patient or allied health care program. This program deals with OB/GYN, abdominal, small parts, neonatal neurosonography, and echocardiography. Much of this program takes place in a clinical setting with hand-on lessons.
