HCI is a private postsecondary facility that is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. The school seeks to impact its core values on its students: application of knowledge, critical thinking skills, and the ability to succeed in school and in your profession. The staff consists of professionals such as experienced nurses, paramedics, and firefighters. These professionals will lecture and provide professional style hands-on classroom activities. Students can get a general education, a professional certificate, a diploma, or an Associate Science Degree while attending HCI.

Enrollment Process and Financial Aid
HCI has provided a checklist to guide its prospective students through the application process. The steps include:
1. Go to the HCI website and download the application form
2. Submit the form and application fee to HCI
3. Tour the campus and speak with the admissions intake officer
You will need to decide if you wish to enroll in the degree program or one of the diploma programs. For each program, you will need to do the following steps:
1. Download the HCI enrollment agreement form the website for the program you are entering
2. Submit the completed agreement with all the requested documents, the tuition, and the fees
Florida has a pre-pay college tuition program and a scholarship plan called Bright Futures. If you plan to use these funds for tuition, you will want to notify the Student Financial Assistant of this. Summer funding is not available for Bright Futures. The HCI financial aid representative can help you with the steps.
Military Friendly School

If you find that you need flexible tuition payments or extensions, you can contact the financial Advisor office for guidance and assistance. HCI want to provide reasonable options to help students to fund their education.
Bachelor of Science Degrees
HCI offers a Nursing program for those seeking a BS in Nursing. The program concentrates on nursing skills, are for patients and self, critical care concepts, professional development, leadership development, and management skills. The standard program fluctuates, with the maximum credits per semester being nine. You can take less than this if other obligations pull you in different directions. The program is very flexible.
Associate of Science Degrees
In this field, three programs are offered: Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Science.
Nursing
This program concentrates on the well being of people and self. The technical skills needed for nursing are taught in different settings such as: acute care facilities, the community, and long-term care facilities. The student, upon graduation, can take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse.
Emergency Medical Services
The Associate of Science Degree in Emergency Medical Services is a combination of EMT-Paramedic curriculum and general Ed courses given by Health Career Center. If you like to help people, are good in emergency situations, and are seeking a career in the medical field, this program may be the perfect fit for you.
Fire Science
If you are a certified fire fighter and wish to advance in your industry, this is the program for you. With graduation from this program you will be trained and eligible for technical and supervisory positions. All of the classes offered by HCI in the Fire Science Program are certified by the Florida State Fire College.
Diploma Programs
HIC offers two diploma programs: the Emergency Medical Technician Basic and the Emergency Medical technician Paramedic.
Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT)
This program is developed and designed to prepare students for employment in Emergency Medicine. An EMT will need to know such skills as patient assessment, airway openings, breath restoration, blood loss control, treating shock, immobilizing fractures, bandaging wounds, assistance with childbirth, caring of heart attack victims, poison and burn treatments, and transportation of victims.
The program adheres to the most recent Emergency Medical Services Education Standards from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It is also in compliance with the State of Florida Statue 401 and FAC 64J of the Florida Department of Health Bureau of EMS.
Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT)
This program aims to prepare the student to take the Florida State Paramedic or National Registry test. Skills emphasized are patient assessment, medication administration, EKG monitoring, and advanced resuscitation techniques.
Online Programs
HCI currently offers two remote online courses. The classes offered are the EMT Refresher and the Paramedic Refresher. American Heart Association Classes Offered.
HCI has paired with the American Heart Association to offer three programs in the health care field. The three programs are:
• The Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
These programs are made up of AHA courses such as Blood borne Pathogen’s, HeartSaver, First Aid, AED training, BLS Instructor Course, ACLS Instructor Course, and PALS Instructor Course.
Fire Training Programs
HCI offers two different fire programs, which may allow the candidate to advance in his or her field:
Fire Officer
This program provides the necessary training to become certified as a Fire Officer I or II.
Fire Inspector
This program provides the courses and training for the student to become certified as a Fire Inspector.
