About Brown Mackie College
Brown Mackie College consists of more than 25 institutes countrywide in 15 different states. It offers various programs at different levels of certificate, diploma, Bachelor’s degree, and Associate’s degree. These career focused programs cover a variety of fields, including nursing, healthcare and wellness, business and technology, veterinary technology, legal studies, construction trades, early childhood education, etc.
History
Brown Mackie College has an extensive history that started with the establishment of Kansas Wesleyan School of Business in 1892. In 1938, the institute was named as the Brown Mackie School of Business. In 2004, the school was renamed as the Brown Mackie College. Since its establishment in 1892, Brown Mackie College has grown to over 25 academies spread across 15 states of the United States.
Accreditation
All the schools of Brown Mackie College are credited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to provide certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and associate’s degrees to students. ACICS is nationally recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The branch campuses of Brown Mackie College are certified by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC, www.hlcommission.org) and are members of the North Central Association.
Brown Mackie College offers a variety of financial assistance programs to applicants who qualify, so that they can easily fund their education. Among its various financial aid programs, some include federal and state grants, federal work-study programs, federal loans, etc. Applicants can apply for any one of these financial assistance programs by filling up the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Military Education
Brown Mackie College provides various military education benefits to active duty military personnel, military students, reservists, military dependents, veterans, etc. Active duty, reserves, and national guards can benefit from military assistance like post 9/11 GI bill, top up, Montgomery GI bill MGIB, Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP), selective reserve Montgomery GI bill, kickers and additional contributions, vocational rehabilitation, and yellow ribbon program. Military children and spouses can benefit from several military education benefits such as Transfer of Education Benefit (TEB) post 9/11 GI bill to dependents, Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MYCAA), survivor and dependents assistance, fry scholarship, etc.
Brown Mackie College offers a wide range of courses in the fields of nursing, healthcare and wellness, business and technology, veterinary technology, legal studies, construction trades, and early childhood education.
The Practical Nursing program is a mixture of classroom knowledge and clinical training in areas of pediatrics, medical-surgical nursing, obstetrics, geriatrics, pharmacology, etc. Students learn about patient care, older adults care, medical team work, nursing skills, surgery, trends in the nursing industry, and critical care. They also get to know about nursing foundations, health assessment, psychology principles, pharmacology, nutrition, physiology and anatomy, human growth and development, professional development, musculoskeletal, protective health programs, neurological, endocrine, elimination, cardiovascular and oxygenation health problems, etc. They learn how to administer medications, take vital signs, and gather samples for testing. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates can sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for
Practical Nursing.
The Practical Nursing program is provided in three variations:

(ii) Practical Nursing Diploma
(iii) Practical Nursing Associate’s Degree (AAS)

IV. Veterinary Technology
If you love to take care of animals, then this is the course for you. It includes animal patient care, medical imaging, laboratory procedures, anesthesia monitoring and administration, surgical aid for different domestic animals, pharmacology, small animal medicine, exotic and laboratory animals, etc. The Veterinary Technology program is offered in two options:
(i) Veterinary Technology AAS (Associate of Applied Science) Degree
(ii) Veterinary Technology AS (Associate of Science) Degree

Brown Mackie College offers one program under Construction Trades.
Construction Trades – Welding (AAS)
In this course, students get classroom knowledge as well as hands-on training on real equipments. They learn about various tools, material, safety procedures, and methods of welding. The curriculum includes brazing, welding, cutting, scaffolding, level 1-4 welding field safety, advanced aluminum welding, fabricating operations using Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) techniques, etc. After completing this program, students get an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Construction Trades – Welding. They get employed as fabricated metal product welders, equipment and transportation manufacturing welders, machine manufacturing welders, construction welders, and structural and architectural metals welders.
Brown Mackie College offers one program under Early Childhood Education.
Early Childhood Education (AAS)
This course teaches applicants about the social, physical, intellectual, and emotional needs of children. The curriculum includes instructions on teaching children the fundamental skills and concepts, child development and growth, nutrition, safety and health in early childhood, early childhood science, social studies and math methods, early childhood language methods and arts, principles of regulation for young child, creative activities for early childhood, toddler and infant development, school, home and community partnerships, evaluation of early childhood education, etc. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates get an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Early Childhood Education. They are prepared for entry level positions in nursery schools and pre-schools, school-age programs, center-based programs, childcare resource and federal organizations, family childcare homes, early childhood development centers, etc.
