If becoming a dental assistant sounds like a fun career then research the program offered by Arizona College. You’ll provide assistance to the dentist and play a valuable role in the success of the office. Arizona College teaches you everything you need during your training to become a dental assistant. As a dental assistant you’ll be right to the side of the dentist you are working for and handling dental instruments to the dentist. The process is typically called four-handed dentistry.


You’ll get all the training needed by experienced instructors. During your studies you’ll learn both front and back office work and the program comes with an externship. You’ll learn how to take x-rays, make impressions for crowns and bridges. In Arizona you’ll need to ass the Radiation health and Safety exam to take x-rays.

Some of the clinical duties that you’ll be responsible for include: sterilizing dental tools, preparing patient for dentist, reviewing patient dental history and teaching the patients about the proper way to brush and maintain great oral hygiene.
Some front office duties could include greeting patients, answering the phone and dealing with insurance companies regarding coverages as well as maintaining the patients’ dental and medical records.


If becoming a dental assistant has always been a goal but money has stood in the way Arizona College offers federal financial aid to those who qualify. Graduates could work in dental offices, pediatric offices, cosmetic and oral surgical offices and even for an orthodontist. Upon graduation it is recommended that you take the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) examination. In the state of Arizona you must receive a Dental Assisting diploma in order to have a good chance of finding employment.
