American Institute of Trucking was founded in 1981. Since then, it has been growing in the educational sector for providing several truck driving programs. Its instructors are experienced and alumni are one of the best truck drivers in US. Till now, the institute has trained and employed over 10,000 drivers with eminent carriers. Being a private career-focused and a vocational institute, AIT aims to produce successful truck drivers and assist students who want to become professional truck drivers. In 1991, when the need for truck drivers increased in the transportation industry, American Institute of Trucking’s main purpose was to provide excellent truck driver training. Paying for your Education
American Institute of Trucking provides financial assistance to applicants who qualify for it. The Financial Aid Advisor of AIT helps students to obtain the right financial aid for them. The institute offers a range of financial assistance programs including tuition and career reimbursements through pre-hiring, loans, grants and aids, scholarships, GI Bill or VRAP programs, military or veteran programs, and financing CDL training. Military Education Benefits
Apart from the several financial aid programs, American Institute of Trucking offers various military programs to active-duty military personnel, reservists, veterans, and retired military personnel. At AIT, applicants are guided to choose the right Federal military program, so that students can fund their education. However, the veterans’ education and military tuition assistance programs are offered to applicants who qualify for them.


American Institute of Trucking offers four programs, namely the Truck Driver Training Course, Professional Truck Driver Training, Diesel Truck Driver Training, and Commercial Truck Driver Training.


Truck Driver Training Course
The Truck Driver Training Course teaches students the fundamental knowledge and skills of over-the-road driving. This program is specifically designed to offer a solid theoretical knowledge of over-the-road driving, with hands-on training of behind-the-wheel skills. The course curriculum includes areas like essentials of equipment inspections and trip planning, DOT regulations, empty, flatbeds and fully-loaded tractor trailer training, defensive driving techniques, cargo handling, and other areas necessary for the modern truck drivers. Students also get to learn about road and range while practicing on the latest fleet equipment, with limited groups and experienced instructors. After completing this program, graduates can sit for the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) examination. They can be successfully employed for entry level positions as co-drivers or driver trainees.


Professional Truck Driver Training
The Professional Truck Driver Training program provides a comprehensive knowledge of the trucking industry background. It includes the trucking industry’s rich history and the fundaments of long haul driving. Students get to learn about extreme driving and emergency procedures, essentials of planning, DOT regulations, special rigs, equipment maintenance, vehicle and control systems, CPR and First Aid, extreme driving techniques, effects on on-the-road trucking family lives, and personal and work financial management. Students get to practice road and range, while using the latest trucking equipment of carrier fleets, so that students can learn efficient, proven, and safe truck driving techniques. In this program, students also get a chance to do externship with well-known carriers, but only after they finish their on-site training. Upon successful completion of this course, students can take the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) examination. Graduates can be employed in various trucking job positions such as non-supervised solo truck driving.


Diesel Truck Driver Training
The Diesel Truck Driver Training course includes the basics of long haul driving and the background of the trucking industry. The knowledge gained from this program exceeds the CDL examination preparation. The curriculum comprises of topics like extreme driving and emergency procedures, essentials of planning, DOT regulations, special rigs, equipment maintenance, vehicle and control systems, extreme driving techniques, CPR and First Aid, personal and work financial management, and impact on trucking family lives. Apart from this, students also practice road and range with the help of latest trucking equipment in carrier fleets, so that they can learn effective, proven, and safe truck driving techniques. After completing this program, graduates can work as driver trainees or co-drivers.


Commercial Truck Driver Training
The Commercial Truck Driver Training program combines classroom knowledge and practical training. It teaches students the basics of over-the-road driving. This course is a mixture of solid over-the-road driving knowledge and comprehensive hands-on behind-the-wheel training. The curriculum includes trip equipment inspections and planning, DOT regulations, defensive driving techniques, empty, flatbeds, and fully-loaded tractor trailer training, and other areas essential for modern truck drivers. Students also get to practice road and range behind-the-wheels while utilizing the latest fleet equipment, with the help of experienced instructors and a limited group, so that they can learn effective, proven, and safe truck driving techniques in varying and unvarying truck loading conditions. In this program, students receive intensive externship training with well-known carriers, but only after they complete their resident program work and hands-on training. Upon successful completion, applicants can pass the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) examination and get employed as non-supervised solo truck drivers.


The objective of the AIT is to help the trainees to become commercially successful and professionally skilled drivers and train them for jobs immediately after the completion of their course. Their aim is to produce highly-trained drivers who can safely drive and have long careers in the transportation industry. Thus, it focuses mainly on providing hands-on training with all the new and advanced technology used in the transport industries today. There are adequate numbers of trainers to provide special attention to the students so that they can get the best of the skills and the expertise from the trainers.


The truck drivers have a high demand in America’s market, and thus, the students who pass out from AIT gets ready placements. It is said that even when the recession hit the US, there was no dearth in the need of the truck drivers. The students who get employed with famous carriers are required to deliver parts and raw materials of the industries, deliver supplies to warehouses, factories and stores. There are a number of carrier companies associated with AIT which functions all across the US, and thus the students get more and more exposures on working with them. Grants and Aid
There are a number of grants and aids for the students offered by AIT. The students will get the most of the financial aid offered by the AIT. Students who want to pursue a career in AIT have to contact the AIT office to know the requirements and eligibility to receive financial help.

The AIT has an advisor who will help the students find out what kind of grants are they eligible for. There are a number of grants like Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Subsidized Loan, AIT Institutional Loan Program and much more. Students can also sign pre-hire agreements with any of the carrier at the AIT, which includes tuition reimbursement programs and health benefits. The students need to have a certain percentage of marks and attendance in order to avail this program.

Students who have a military background are offered Veterans Educational Assistance Program Benefit where qualified ex-military personnel and war veterans are given certain benefits for their prior experience in truck driving and training.
