Non-Degree Seeking Programs
For education professionals who aren’t interested in pursuing a Master’s Degree but who still want to learn new skills, Acacia University offers a variety of programs and certifications for Non-Degree seekers. Whether you’re interested in stepping up your knowledge base or are trying to achieve a more comprehensive educational background before pursuing an advanced degree, Acacia University’s Non-Degree programs can help you achieve your goals. If upon completion of the program you decide to enter a degree program, you may be able to transfer your credits and apply them toward your degree. Non-Degree programs are available in a variety of courses, each designed to help you enhance your teaching techniques to improve the educational environment for your students. From visual learning techniques such as word walls and other graphic enhancements to new strategies for engaging with students, Acacia University’s Non-Degree seeking programs and certifications will give you the skills you need to not only improve your students’ learning experience, but to enhance your skillset as well, making you more marketable as an educator.

Admission
To be admitted into one of the Master’s programs from Acacia University, you must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with verifiable transcripts. Applicants must currently be employed as teachers, verifiable with a letter from the institution for whom they currently work. Acacia University’s curriculum is 100% online, so applicants must have access to a computer and internet. Non-Degree seeking students must have a high school diploma or GED and proficiency in the English language.

Financial Aid
Acacia University offers degree programs that are very affordable. The school accepts tuition payments through check, money order, wire transfer or credit card. Payment is due at the time of registration, although if your employer pays for your education, they will be invoiced in the second week of courses. Students whose employers pay for tuition must submit a billing authorization form.

The Acacia Advantage
Acacia University’s degree programs have been designed with working professionals in mind. Not only are classes affordable, they are offered 100% online and can be completed at times that are convenient and easily incorporated into your schedule. However, course requirements are as rigorous as at other universities, and your education will be on par with what you could expect at a more traditional university. Acacia University also employs the use of Learning Coaches who work one-on-one with each student and act as mentors to ensure that you will grasp the material.

Acacia University’s Learning Coaches have been specifically trained in online teaching methods, and each of them has a background that is specifically relevant to the degree program. Rather than being instructed by a professor with a general background in education, you will be mentored by a professional with direct experience in your chosen field. Your mentor knows first-hand the challenges and benefits associated with your field of study, whether it’s elementary education, secondary education or one of the specialty education programs. Each mentor must have a Doctoral degree and experience with online teaching interfaces.

SEI Endorsements
If you are in need of a Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement attached to your teaching license, you can get one at Acacia University. Any teacher working in a school in which they need this endorsement will be trained in a program that fulfills the requirements of the Arizona State Department of Education Office of English Acquisition Services. The two course program will give teachers the tools needed to teach one or more non English speaking students without sacrificing the quality of their education. To obtain this endorsement, you must complete two courses; one that offers an introduction to the historical, legal and theoretical principles surrounding Structured English Immersion, and a second that teaches different methodologies for Sheltered English Instruction. The interactive course will allow teachers to broaden their skills and practice them in a manner that is similar to what they can expect in their day-to-day interactions with ESL students.

State Licensure, Certifications, and Endorsements
While Acacia University cannot guarantee that you will pass your state licensure or receive specialized endorsements, upon completion of your program, they can arm you with the tools needed to increase your likelihood of furthering your career. If you are interested in pursuing licensure, endorsements or certifications, the best place to start is your state’s Board of Education. This will allow you to compare your needs with the courses offered by Acacia University and will help you structure your own education in a manner that aligns with your personal goals. Acacia University’s Learning Coaches can work with you to assess your own personal strengths and work with them to complete the program that will give you the best chance for success. Of course, it is up to each student to ensure that they are keeping up with the courses and that their chosen program aligns with their own state’s requirements. However, Acacia University’s curriculum is accredited and effective at teaching research-based instructional strategies.
