Pursuing your MBA in environmental management may be just the educational avenue for you! An education in environmental management will teach you how to deal with adverse business or operation issues and how they affect the environment. As you begin working on your degree program you will likely be required to take an introductory course of environmental management. This class will be designed to help you learn about the legal, political, and scientific factors as they relate to environmental management. You will also be studying the laws and regulations as they apply to air pollution, water pollution, hazardous waste, and solid waste. Although this is an introductory level course you will be learning about these regulations and laws at a local, state, and federal level. In conjunction with these studies, you will spend time focusing on how environmental issues pertain to non-profit groups, governmental agencies, and large corporations. While the curriculum will vary from one college to another, you should expect to complete your studies through a multi-disciplinary learning format that will require you to make efficient decisions that concern the environment.

Environmental Management Schools

As you begin working on your more concentrated courses, the environmental management classes you will be taking will teach you about current and contemporary issues of the environment and how these issues affect organizational management. You will receive formal training regarding the standards of the ISO (International Environmental Management System), as well as the operational and strategic techniques of managing the environment. Many colleges require their prospective MBA environmental management graduates to study how environmental factors both positively and negatively affect the Earth's hydrosphere, atmosphere, and lithosphere. In addition, you will extensively study the principles that dictate how ecosystems are governed. How the environment was in the past, as well as how it currently is, are both explored by students in their course work.

Within this degree program, you will also be responsible for learning how the environment affects the health of humans. This course of study will involve studies of noise pollution, radiation, water pollution, air pollution, soil pollution, and hazardous chemicals and how each affects our environment. You will want to be prepared for an in-depth study of each of these factors. Depending upon the college or university you choose, you may also extend your studies to include hazard control and hazard management. As you near completion of your MBA degree program you will most likely be required to complete an environmental management class that is focused on global issues. This course is designed to teach you about economic development, environmental conservation, environmental pollution and how they each relate to global issues of the environment and national issues related to the environment. At this level of your MBA degree program it will be crucial that you have developed your critical thinking skills; this will ensure that you are adequately able to apply your knowledge and skills set.
