How to Prepare for Stanford University Admission Procedure

Preparing for a university’s admission procedure can feel like a frightening process, especially when you hope to attend Stanford University. Stanford is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. It is known for its superior undergraduate program and one of the most demanding universities to get into, with an acceptance rate of only 4.3%. While this may seem daunting, it’s crucial to stay reminded that they receive tens of thousands of applicants each year. The only way to determine whether you have a chance of getting in is by preparing your admission portfolio. One of the best things you can do is prepare, which is why we are here to tell you how to be ready for Stanford University’s admission procedure.

GPA

To start the Admission process, you must first know if you meet Standard University’s requirements and what you need to build an application that will help you get into Stanford. They mainly focus on GPA scores, testing scores (Like SAT and ACT), and application requirements. Stanford doesn’t only expect you to be one of the top students in your class, but it requires you to be one.

The average GPA should be around 3.96, meaning that you’ll have to opt for straight As. While this may seem somewhat achievable, Stanford searches for students who take up challenging classes like IB and AP and still manage to ace them. If you have a lower GPA, changing it during the last two years of high school may not be feasible. Don’t let this discourage you; you can make up for the difference by submitting a higher ACT or SAT score. This will put you at an advantage when other applicants have higher GPAs than you do.

SAT and ACT

Stanford University requires the optional essay sections on the SAT and ACT. On the new SAT score scale of 1600, the Average SAT score of Stanford attendees is 1505. If your SAT score is below 1440, you are below average; you are above average if your SAT score is more than 1550. It’s essential to keep in mind that Stanford requires you to send them all of your SAT scores, even though they don’t consider all of them. For instance, if you attended two SAT trials, they will not average both scores and only consider the higher one. Don’t worry about sending in too many test scores. A safe number of trials lies between 4 and 6 sittings. As long as you haven’t sat for 6 SAT trials, you recommend that you try to improve your score. SAT subject tests are also highly recommended, as they portray specific strengths and skillsets.

For the ACT, you’ll fall below average if your score is 32 or less and above average if it’s above 34. You are allowed to send only one ACT score even if you took the test over ten times. This grants you the opportunity to improve your ACT score regardless of how many trials this takes. Surprisingly, Stanford also offers a super score for ACT takers.

Application Requirements

Each university has a set of minimum application requirements that allow you to attend the university. If you plan to attend the next summer quarter Stanford, you must make sure that you are eligible. A Common Application is accepted, while a universal one isn’t. Electronic applications and fee waivers are available, and essays or personal statements and two letters of recommendation are required. Interviews are not required, and you must pay an application fee of $90. SAT or ACT, along with SAT Essay or ACT Writing scores, are required.  SAT Subject Tests are recommended, and the scores are due by the 15th of January. English, Maths, Science, Foreign Language, Social Studies, History, and other electives, are all coursework requirements. Regular Admission and Early Action are offered. The former’s deadline is the 3rd of January with a notification on the 1st of April, and the latter has a deadline of 1st of November and a notice on the 15th of December. Stanford University doesn’t offer Early Decision.

Stand Out

To make your application stand out among the applicants’ pool, showcasing minimum requirements won’t be enough. You must portray your excellence in areas other than academics, such as extracurricular activities and personal development and achievement. You should also show good character and interest, along with vast knowledge, regarding Stanford University. Pay much attention to Stanford’s supplemental application essays.

Many people apply to Stanford University each year. However, the majority of applicants are turned down. It is hard to keep track of what each university is looking for, especially for a challenging one like Stanford. For those reasons, we are here to prepare you for their admission procedure.
